The Orange Man

The Village of Flossmoor has a public art program.  A number of sculptures are in a "Sculpture Garden" across the street from St. John's.  The orange man is a relatively recent addition.  The village website provides the commentary below on this piece:

Visitors to the Sculpture Garden in Leavitt Park will notice a glimpse of orange against the winter white. The sculpture, "Pulling III", by artist Jack Howard-Potter, is a figurative steel piece covered with a powder coat finish and is appropriate for displaying in an outdoor public environment.

Mr. Howard-Potter represents that his pieces are able to "hold their own" in competition with automobiles and severe weather conditions. His sculpture has been displayed in the public arena on several occasions. He has shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002 and, subsequently, the Southern Vermont Art Center for the last three consecutive years. One of his pieces is permanently installed outdoors in Coral Springs, Florida, and he recently participated in Sculpture Key West and the Palm Beach Sculpture biennale, as well as having pieces in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and Brooklyn, New York.
